Crystal Wilson

Crystal went to college for both her undergraduate and graduate work in California. She began working in physical medicine and rehabilitation, which ultimately brought her to Colorado. While working in Colorado she met her now husband, Tyler, and in that relationship our joint infertility journey toward parenthood began.

Crystal had been diagnosed with endometriosis 11-years prior, while Tyler was paralyzed during a combat mission in Afghanistan 10-years prior. With both of their infertility diagnosis, we were faced with the reality of IVF as our only option, and like most no coverage for it. This is what lit Crystal’s fire for advocating and lobbying for infertility coverage.

In 2016 we were successful, with the help of a strong and diverse lobbying/advocacy team, in getting temporary coverage for the VA to pay for IVF for eligible Veterans and their spouses. However, Crystal saw there was still a need in her home state of Colorado for access to fertility coverage, so when she was asked to be a part of what is now Colorado Fertility Advocates she knew it was the right fit.

Crystal’s underlying desire to fight for infertility rights is so that others in the future do not have to. She and her husband have been blessed with two sons after three egg retrievals and two frozen embryo transfers, and they both desire to give families the opportunities to experience all that parenthood brings to your life if they desire.
